Magic Leap announces second LEAP CON to be held in abandoned Circuit City parking lot

(Plantation, FL) After a year of mystery (and scattered layoffs) MAGIC LEAP INC. has announced plans for their second ever LEAP CON according to Marcy Whitmire (Head of Events + Marketing). Augmented Reality fans will be invited to an afternoon of talks, demos, and networking at an abandoned Circuit City parking lot down the street from their Plantation Headquarters. “We’ve also rebranded the event to THE MAGIC LEAP MEET because we found that googling ‘Magic Leap + Con’ returned results that…weren’t great.”

Developers are excited to see the new lineup of apps and experiences they’ll get their hands on at the upcoming event. “We really pulled out all the stops this year” says Jaime Morris (Head of Developer Relations) we wanted to capitalize on big titles that gamers know, and also anything that was ‘Woke’ or ’Diverse’ because then we could tweet about it and pat ourselves on the back.” When asked about any potential killer apps Morris said “Listen, you haven’t experienced true immersive gaming until you play the upcoming FLAPPY BIRD AR on our $2,500 headset.”

Magic Leap also stated plans to invite all 6,000 developers who purchased a Magic Leap One headset, and in surprising news they plan to also honor entry for the 5,000 Magic Leap owners who bought their headsets off Ebay and Craigslist shortly after launch at a fraction of the original price.

With many high profile Magic Leap staff members leaving in the last year, the event will give an opportunity for developers to meet and hear from their new talented replacements. Keynote speakers include their new CFO Adam Neumann (Previously WeWork) and replacing John Gaeta (Inventor of Bullet Time technology) as their VP of Creative Strategy will be technical artist Ardie Stevenson, famous for his original designs on the upcoming films “Sonic The Hedgehog” and “CATS”.

We recently spoke with CEO/Founder Rony Abovitz to ask what his thoughts were on the future of Augmented Reality and how Magic Leap would play a part, he stated “I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together” when asked for a follow up on what attendants could expect from the second Leap Con his only response was “Coo-Coo-Ka-Choo”.
